  1. The reason why USSR and the United States had a rivalry was because they disagreed on Capitalism and communism. The United States had a capitalist government, which is that you work harder you will get more money and have a better life. The USSR supported Communism, which was the more you work for the more resources you could earn.

  2. America’s fear of communist attacking and taking over the whole world played a major role in the Cold War. As we were trying to prevent this we fought any communism that was spreading, even to the extent of the Vietnam War. In result to us trying to stop the entire communism, tension began to rise between the Americans and the Soviet Union. This tension was also created because the Soviet Union was now communist. Joseph Stalin had recently not given free election to countries that he had promised it to and instead turned them into communist countries. The Americans had come up with a couple plans. One of them was the Domino Theory. This theory was used to justify the need for American intervention around the world. President Truman created the second plan. He named this the Truman Doctrine. This was supposed to help Greece and Turkey by giving them aid, so that way they would not also fall into communism. Later on the Marshall plan was created to give countries that needed more aid the help that they needed. A year following after Soviet Unions created their first atomic bomb China became communist. This built up more fear in the Americans. One of the biggest countries had now become communist and the Soviet Union had created a bomb that they could drop on America at any time. All America could do was plan for what they thought was coming.

  3. The cold war is the term used to describe the intense that developed after World War II between groups of Communist and nonCommunist nations. The struggle was the cold war because it did not actually lead to fighting, or ‘’ hot’’ war, on a wide scale.
The Cold War was characterized by mutual distrust, suspicion, and misunderstandings by both the United States and the Soviet Union, and their allies. At some of these times, these conditions increased the likelihood of a third world war. The United States accused the Soviet Union of seeking to expand Communism throughout the world. The Soviets, meanwhile, charged the United States with practicing imperialism and with attempting to stop revolutionary activity in other countries. Each bloc’s vision of the world also contributed to East-West tension. The United States really wanted a world of independent nations based on democratic principles. The Soviet Union, however, attempted to tightly control areas it considered vital to its nation interested, including much of Eastern Europe.

  4. the United sates had placed missiles in Turkey which the Soviets feared could reach them… which it could. Also the events that happened from older times
kept growing causing fear on both sides which will eventually lead to the Cuban
    missile crisis.

  5. The cause was the threat of going into a nuclear war. Russia also thought they were superior to all countries and they wanted to make everyone communist. After World War II, Russia wanted to make themselves known and with that thought, they started the development of nuclear missiles and causes the cold war with the US.

  8. The reason why Russia and the US had so many conflicts was because they disagreed on communism and capitalism. The US is capitalist, and Russia is is communist.

  9. USSR and the United states had tension because they had different opinions on capitalism, nuclear war. The Soviet Union believed in Communism and US does not. The US believes you need to work hard to get paid. And the Soviet is on the opposite side. Basically whatever the US believed in USSR believed in the opposite.

  10. The two were at odds for many reasons some of which is the power struggle of both counties, The treat of nuclear war and Capitalism vs Communism. Both sides where committed to what they wanted which also was an issue.
